If Namitha is just an oomph girl in your opinion; it’s time for you to reconsider. For the actress says her concentration is now on doing varied roles and her forthcoming films would prove it true.
“I want to change my image. I want to act in roles which are more meaningful. And I am sure I will able to get rid of the image of being branded as a sexy actress with films like ‘Ilaignan’ in which I am doing a different character,” she says.
Explaining the reason, the actress, who is popular for wearing skimpy outfits says, “When my co-stars bag challenging roles, it disturbs me to some extent. But most directors insist I wear a bikini and shorts.”
Saying she would like to wear traditional outfits, especially sarees, Namitha adds: “I would like to act in roles like Sridevi in the film ‘Sadma’. Trust me I can act well and I am not for glamour alone.”

Movie Review: Namitha's Simha
After duds like Mithrudu, Balakrishna returns in a ferocious role, indulging in some daredevil action as he reels out customary punch lines to enthrall his fans. He plays a dual role but the older character has more meat and substance, while the younger persona pales in comparison. Though he has essayed many angry-young-man roles, this one is different since Balakrishna mows down evildoers with a sense of guilt, as he plays a doctor.
The anguish of a life-saving medico who hacks callous criminals is nicely established. He fasts on the day he commits a crime and occasionally gets dejected with the contradictions in his life. The storyline however is contrived and even the predictable narration is loosely inspired by his earlier hits like Narasimhanaidu, giving the audience a déjà vu. Among glam girls, sexy siren Nayantara showcases her talent rather than skin, while Sneha Ullal is wasted in an inconsequential role. The USP of the movie is the well-choreographed action episodes, since even the comedy of Venu Madhav & Co. falls flat. Although director Boyapti Srinu’s flashback episode is painstakingly designed, tightening the loose ends in the first half would have made the film more engrossing and watchable.
In the second role, Balakrishna is a strict lecturer and punishes drug peddlers and irresponsible students. He is loved by his colleague (Namitha) but reciprocates the love of Sneha Ullal, his new student. All hell breaks loose, when Balakrishna confronts a gang that comes to take Sneha back to their city and he is baffled by her past life. In an attack, Balakrishna’s grandma is severely injured and she reveals that the killers of his parents are still alive and kicking. Balakrishna sets out to save his love and avenge his parent’s death.
Balakrishna is back in his element as a fiery doctor and does a good job. Nayantara delivers a knock-out performance. While Sneha has no role to play, Namitha exudes enough oomph. Even baddies like Sukumar, Aditya Menon and Kota Srinivas Rao put in a decent performance.

Actress Namitha has not signed up any films in the near future
Sources report that Namitha has not signed up any films in the near future. The actress is keen on reducing her weight and will work her way towards it by taking a break.
Namitha currently has a Kannada and Telugu film in which she will be paired opposite Bala Krishna.
She will take a break soon after completing the Tamil film Perazhagi, which is to be directed by Pramod.

Namitha, the hot and happening bootylicious glam-doll of South Indian film industry, is now going to produce films under her new banner.
The actress made her debut in Tamil cinema in 2004 with ‘Engal Anna’ and was ennobled as the glamorous queen of South India. In fact, she has the distinction of being the most frequently searched actress on Google.
Strangely, the actress is now running out of offers as most of her recent films nosedived at the box office.
Namitha is therefore contemplating a complete image revamp. She has now flown back to Mumbai where she is reportedly working hard to lose her excess weight. Meanwhile, she also is listening to scripts of new filmmakers over the phone.
Surprisingly, unlike other heroines who resort to starring in lead roles in the films that they produce, the actress has graciously decided to let the directors choose. Namitha has dished out a glamourous entertainer in Azhagana Ponnuthan
Director Thiru (not the one who directed ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’) with Namitha in the company has dished out a glamourous entertainer that would obviously woo his target audience - the youngsters.
The filmmaker seems to have been inspired heavily by ‘Summer of 42′, a 1971 classic directed by Robert Mulligan. But for Namitha, as promised by the promos, ‘Azhagana Ponnuthan’ has nothing big to offer to movie-goers.
In a nutshell, the movie is about a youth who loves a woman older to him one-sided. Though it is a bold theme considering the society that we live, the narration takes away all the sheen. A cliched presentation and predictable characterisation mars the flow of the film.
Namitha is the saving grace as she appears in flaunting costumes, dances and eventually provides loads of advices too. Parthiban appears in the very first reel recollecting his travails with a woman whom he had developed an affinity in his teens.
A flashback takes one to Kodaikanal where Karthik (Karteesh) falls instantly for a gorgeous woman called Jennifer (Namitha), who is older to him. She is admired and respected by everyone, especially men.
It is all but Karthik’s wild imagination is the rest. Karthik sings duets with Jennifer and runs behind her. However in the latter half, he goes into a shell brooding over his love and beloved. Twists and turns reveal that Jennifer’s husband has died in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. What happens then forms the climax.
Namitha has tried to shed her glamdoll image and perform in the movie. But a weak narration by Thiru gives no place for it. The commercial elements gives the movie a different colour, which unfortunately doesn’t work. The young Karteesh reminds one of ‘Kadhal Kondein’ Dhanush at many a place. Parthiban needs to be applauded for taking the guts to do such a role. A couple of songs by Sundar C Babu are hummable.
On the whole, Thiru has provided a bold theme that may work wonders with front-benchers.

SIMHA IS all set to release on April 31 putting an end to the long wait for Telegu film fans. The eagerly awaited film’s music tracks have already started making a mark among the fans by being the most searched online. Though the producer stated that the film is in the post production stage, he claimed that this flick is an assured entertainer for Balakrishna’s fans.

Namitha's telugu movie Simha will be screened in 40 theatres across the USA
Boyapati Sreenu-directed Simha, starring Balakrishna in a powerful role, will be screened in 40 theatres, across the USA. The producers are planning to release the film in 25 centres across the country.
Producer Paruchuri Kiriti says that the film will see a very big release in the US. Slated for a release in the last week of April, Simha stars Nayanatara, Sneha Ullal and Namitha.
Its overseas release is by Supreme Movies, whose head Raju has hands-on experience in overseas film business.
The producer, Mr. Kiriti said, "This one is a costly film in our banner. I think this film will be a sensational hit in Balakrishna’s career. We found a wonderful subject."
Varudu is another important film that will be released in a big way in the US.
