Namitha's Hoo will positively hit the theatres in February

Ravichandran has disclosed his ‘Hoo’ film produced by Dinesh Gandhi will positively hit the theatres in February. The film is nearing completion and they recently completed the final song sequence with Ravichandran and Namitha in Bangalore.

The film is about a person with the heart of a flower who values his friendship more than anything else. The film has two heroines - Meera Jasmine and Namitha. Other cast includes Rangayana Raghu, Bullet Prakash, Sharan and Shankar Aswath.

About the shifting of release date from January 15 to February Ravichandran said he felt it wasn’t necessary to fix the release date and then work with tensions to complete before the date. We needed some more time to have a better product and we are happy with the outcome.

Southern actress Namitha says she has no plans to change her glamour girl image because her fans like her in her sexy avatar.

"I am happy to have genuine fans who wants to see me in best of roles. They advise me sometimes about the type of roles I should do. Many of my fans say that I should not do away with my glamorous image. I know that glamour is my selling point and I have decided to stick to my sexy image and please my fans, " Namitha told.

She is so popular that her fans have built a temple in her name in Tamil Nadu , but she hasn’t visited it yet.

"I know my fans have built a temple in a place near Coimbatore. I haven’t visited the temple yet. I was busy shooting for films in all the four South Indian languages.

Whenever I have time, I go to Mumbai to be with my family. I love the food prepared by my mother and would not miss any opportunity to be with her. She is also coming to Chennai to be with me during my shooting, " said the actress.

Namitha was here recently to shoot a dance sequence for the Kannada film "Hoo", which is being directed by Ravichandran for producer Dinesh Gandhi.

Namitha, who features in two song and dance sequences, says that she agreed to do it because Ravichandran is also acting in it.

"Ravi sir is a specialist as far as showing his heroines glamorously on the screen is concerned. He gives enough space to his heroines on and off screen. He has given me a very good role in the film which has given me scope to perform and also showcase my glamour quotient, " said Namitha.

Namitha had recently worked in a Malayalam film "Black Stallion" with Kalabhavan Mani which has now been dubbed in Tamil. She also featured in the hit Telugu film "Billa".

Namitha Kapoor who is satisfied with her latest release ‘Jaganmohini’ response is now focusing on her upcoming Telugu movie titled as “Simha”.

Glam goddess Namitha said she would like to don a half-saree and long skirt, if she gets the chance. She was speaking at the audio launch of ’Nil Gavani Ennai Kathalai’, held at Four Frames theatre.

The gorgeous actress was responding to the plea made by lyricist Snehan, who spoke before her. Snehan said that half-saree and long skirt was the traditional costume of Tamil young girls and if Namitha chose to wear it, thousands would follow suit. Namitha said that she would wear the costume as and when possible and would don it in one of her forthcoming films.

The Chennai International Fashion Week begins

Probably the first global fashion event in Chennai, the Chennai International Fashion Week begins at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai.

The opening show is by Pria Kataaria Puri, who will have Bollywood hot bod Koena Mitra walking for her. This will be followed by fashion shows by Chirag Joshi, Ishita Singh, Smallshop Jason and Anshu, and Sri Lankan designer Yolanda Aluwihare. The ramp will be set ablaze by Alicia Raut (walking for Chirag), Genelia D’Souza (show stopper for Ishita), Ex Miss Sri Lanka Anarkali Akarsha (walking for Yolanda) and Indrani Dasgupta (on the ramp for Sidney Sladen).

The finale of the day is by Chennai designer Sidney Sladen, who will have Namitha and Neil Nitin Mukesh walking the ramp for him.

Several celebrities, fashion divas and glitterati from Chennai and across the country are expected to come. With so much excitement on Day One, the rest of the fashion week promises to be a fashion extravaganza.

Glamour queen of South Namitha will walk the ramp for Chennai-based designer Sidney Sladen at the Chennai International Fashion Week on December 16.

Namitha is currently busy with her Telugu venture Simha with Balakrishna and Nayantara. She is also working in her first Malayalam film Black Stallion, which will be a trilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Sidney Sladen is one of Chennai’s topnotch designers and a close friend of Trisha and Ramya Krishnan. Earlier also, the designer has roped in Namitha to launch his second outlet ’Sidney Sladen’ at the Le Meridien.

Namitha's heavy budget film in Telugu and Tamil languages

Pulleti Durgamohan, who had earlier produced Flash News on the banner of Lakshmi Sindhu Cine Creations, is planning another heavy budget film in Telugu and Tamil languages, with Namitha, Prithviraj, Sonu Sood and Rajiv Kanakala in the lead. Microsal Pvt Ltd is presenting the film, while G Ashok is directing the flick.

Producer says, “Our earlier film Flash News attracted many and won several compliments. We are doing another film with the same team and this time with a little more budget. We are bringing out a new subject with a different narration and the film would be definitely a youthful entertainer. The script work is almost complete. We are planning to go to sets during this month and most part of the film would be shot in Hyderabad only.” Music is by SP Venkat.

Namitha and Karthik's intimate scenes in film Azhagana Ponnuthan

All eyes are on Namithas new film Azhagana Ponnuthan directed by Thiru.The film is said to be something similar to the 1977 Bharathan-Padmarajan classic in Malayalam Rathinirvedam.

In the film a young 16 year old boy has a huge crush on his 25 year old neighbour played by Jayabharathi, and the film is all about how she finally falls for the boy. Azhagana Ponnuthan has newcomer the 18 year old Karthik falling for Namitha in similar fashion.

But when director Thiru wanted to shoot certain intimate scenes with Namitha and Karthik, the actress refused to do the scenes. Namithas explanation was: I cant do such intimate scenes with a young kid, though I have done similar scenes with actors who are elder to me like Sharat Kumar, Sathyaraj, Vijay and Ajith.

Later the director claims he had to shoot them separately and join the scenes together to get the visual effects of a intimate scene. Please note Namitha who loves to come for launches of her films in short dresses, avoided coming for the Azhagana Ponnuthan audio launch.

Never try to remake a classic, like the 1979 Vittalacharaya magic and sorcery entertainer Jaganmohini that featured Jayamalini. The 2009 version directed by NK Viswanathan with buxom Namitha in the lead turns out to be a Diwali damp squib.

The modern version lacks the speed and characterization, is disjointed with graphics and special effects looking very amateurish. It does not strike a chord with today’s audiences who are used to the awesome special effects seen in dubbed Tamil versions of films like Lord of the Rings or Mummy!

The story is as old as the hills. A handsome prince Jagathalapradhapan (Raja) is loved by his cousin Azhagu (Nila), but he falls for a sexy and voluptuous fisherwoman Mohini (Namitha) whom he meets while on a mission to capture the deadly sea pirate Allaikallan and his gang.

The young prince wants to marry the commoner but his dad and mom hatches a plan to kill Mohini. Enter an evil sorcerer (Kota Sreenivasa Rao) who plays the pirates against the king, so that he could become omnipotent. Meanwhile Mohini is killed and she comes back as a spirit to unite with her lover!

Want to hear more about this mumbo-jumbo story that is tedious, confusing and a bore? The film was made to cash in on Namitha’s sex symbol image, but it backfires as she looks bloated and tries to do the same thing all over again. The music of Ilayaraja has nothing new in it, Vadivel’s comedy track hardly raises a smile.

The basic trouble with the film is that story and presentation of NK Viswanathan is outdated with tacky special effects that have the audiences jeering. The film simply doesn’t work.

Verdict: Forget it!

The sexy bombshell Namitha’s first trilingual, Kicchu Films Nil Gavani Ennai Kadhali in Tamil had its audio launch at Four Frames Preview theatre in Chennai.

This is her first Malayalam film titled as Black Stallion which will also have its Telugu dubbed version.

The function had VC Guhanathan, Sivasakthi Pandian, Namitha and hero Bala were also present. The music of the film is by Abhishek who is a sound engineer working with James Vasanth and Chitra. Both James and Chitra were present to encourage him on his debut venture.

The film is directed by Pramod and Pappan and was completed in 35 days with Namitha, Kalabavan Mani, Bala, Ashish Vidyarthi and Pawan in the lead. Four songs were screened which showed a very sexy and glamourous Namitha dancing in club numbers, a rain song and even a folk song.

Lyricist turned actor Snehan was present and requested that one day Namitha do a role in pavadai dhavani to which Namitha replied that going the other extreme of glamour would not be accepted by her fans who are used to her glamourous image.

Namitha was excited about this project and said, “This is my first film in Malayalam and though I got many offers earlier I was apprehensive about the working schedules there. But this team was very co-operative and don’t be surprised if I do another film with the same producer. The role gave me lots of scope to perform and the glam scenes are only in the songs, in the film I am covered from head to toe!”

Replying to a comment about actors not coming for their film functions, she added, “I always come to functions of my films and even for others unless there is a family emergency, ill health or if I am shooting outside the city. Actors are people too but I apologise if I have not been able to come for any function.”
